I have posted this on Facebook already this week, but I thought I’d add it to my blog because it was just too cute.
Earlier this week, my friend May Har asked Brandyn if he’d like to come and visit her in California. She told him that she would take him to the beach. He responded with, “What’s the peach?” Later he drew a picture and brought it to me. He explained that it was a picture of “the peach and the water”. I thought he was telling me he wanted to watch James and the Giant Peach. He kept telling me it was “the big peach“. I asked him if he wanted to watch the movie and he said, “No! May Har gonna take me to the peach!”
My daughter, Kaitlyn is in North Carolina visiting relatives this weekend. I talked to her on the phone the day before yesterday and she was telling me about her adventures. She told me she never knew that it could rain so much in one day. “It rained ALL day! And then it poured for a whole hour!” She was shocked when I told her this was a common occurrence in North Carolina. She also said, “I just love when I breathe how I can actually feel moisture.” I informed her this phenomenon was called humidity. “Oh, ya. I keep forgetting what it’s called.” It occurred to me that, living in the desert, she had no reason to remember such a thing.
This week has brought to my attention that I really need to get my children out of the desert more often.
